Finally...
a bit of respite. :-) I could have posted sooner I suppose, but I've been so busy the last thing I want to do is post to my journal when I get home! This month has mainly been focused on dancing and moving. We moved to Waltham...I am officially 5 minutes from my work! I freaking love it!!!!!

Everybody Dance!
On July 1st I started West Coast Swing and I have class every Tuesday's...and I am adding Thursday to the mix too :-) I love the style of West coast as it is very fluid and smooth and it's perfect for me as that tends to be my dancing style. I'm also thinking of taking a private lesson once every couple of months so I can get more attention and focus on my movements as well as footwork. :-) I decided that I would like to start competing in West Coast, but in order to do so I need to make sure that I get personal feedback and critiques on my movement and steps...and it is pretty hard being a follower, especially with a poor leader! I love it...I want to get good enough to dance like this:

On July 14th I started Lindy Hop/East Coast Swing...and I have a class every Monday now! I've never taken this style of dancing before, but I found the beginner class to be too simple so I decided to step it up to the intermediate class. It is strange, at the first class I enjoyed it and was slightly torn between West Coast and Lindy...as Lindy is so much fun! However, with more West Coast experience I do love West Coast more, so after my classes are over for Lindy I will be solely focusing on West Coast :-)

On July 19th I attended the Boston Dance Challenge (West Coast lessons and competition), I went for the lessons of course :-) There is also going to be the Boston Dance Revolution event on August 8th-10th which is a great mix between West Coast and line...and then of course there is the Summer Hummer on August 22-24...ahhh...I need more money. :-p

Work
Work has been insanely busy...I currently have 8 projects I am working on 3 of them are very large... :-p That should be fun and interesting...the business requirement for one of them has been taking me almost 5 days...ugh...it has been nuts. The worst and best part is that more than half of my projects are very high profile.

All in all
Life is great, and to some extent has felt rather fulfilling, which isn't something I feel too often. I still think I can do more though! I will also be very happy when I get the kitchen all set up so we can stop eating out...I am getting so sick of take-out food.

Coming to a Theatre Near You
Looks like Cowboy Bebop is getting the live-action film treatment, so says iF Magazine. With so many Bebop fans out there, how exactly do producers plan on handling the source material?

According to producer Erwin Stoff: “I have such an enormous admiration for its creators, that our first and foremost concern is going to be a real degree of faithfulness to the tone of the movie, to the mix of genres, and so on and so forth,” he says. “When I met with them in Japan, one of the first things that I brought up was the experience that we had on A SCANNER DARKLY, and how hard we worked to remain faithful to Philip K. Dick, and that was our big concern here.”

The film, which is being developed for Fox Studios, was signed earlier this week. More news to come...Of course, we'll just add this to the ever-growing list of other anime to live-action films coming out, namely Ghost in the Shell, Akira, and DragonBall Z.

From Comics to Film
What with Comic-Con unleashing itself later this week and the success of this summer's comics-based blockbusters, like Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hellboy II, and The Dark Knight, seems like Wired magazine decided to make a little list of other comics-to-film franchises. Of course, they forget the manga-related stuff, like DragonBall Z and Astroboy, as well as other comics in film-treatment development, like Bone and Green Lantern.

Oh well! At least the list has a few exciting gems to share, like the Scott Pilgrim flick starring Michael "Superbad" Cera and the Wolverine prequel.

What manga or comics would you like to see get the big screen treatment?

meme!
Stolen from [info]bulletpoints, whom I met last night at the Kuroshitsuji friending meme (Go. Read. Kuroshitsuji. Now. Some is up at onemanga. So go.).

Name a fandom, and I'll tell you my:

One True Pairing Ship:
Canon Ship:
"If this happens I'll stab my eyes out with a spork" Ship:
"You are one sick bastard" Ship:
"I dabble a little" Ship:
"It's like a car crash" Ship:
"Tickles my fancy but not sold just yet" Ship:
"Makes no canon sense but why the Hell not" Ship:
"Everyone else loves it but I just don't feel it" Ship:

Check my interests if you don't know a fandom. I have many. XD

HAI GAIZ I DID IT.
[info]glass_fleet

Now watch me be the only member for the rest of my life. XDDDD

Though I'm going to keep pimping this show. I'll warn you again (though I mentioned it briefly in my initial review), it's not spectacular. It's not a revolutionary work, and it won't win any awards. But it's a lot of fun, and melodramatic, and the characters might be cliched but oh, are they great fun. And genderbending (I lied in the first review, sry) and canon shota, lololol!

So if you're looking for something that's not overly deep, with pretty art and revolution stories and fighting and I have to say I really like the music as well, I'm going to keep reccing it.

And then. Go join the comm.

The End of an Era
So I finally have something to say about the Avatar finale...And here it 'tis for your spoiler-revealing pleasure )

And how's this for a sweet plot bunny? )

Otherwise, I'm making the combo of [info]fandomme's Ozai's Vengeance and [info]aj_rayne's Somewhere in Between/Out of the Gray & Into the Black my future!storyline...

Also, I'm totally going to the Avatar panel on Friday night at Comic-Con, just so I can get an explanation from Bryke in person...Let me know if there's anything you'd like to pass on!

EDIT: I do want to let everyone know that I DID like most of the finale, lest you believe I found it ALL rotten. I loved the animation, the fight scenes, and the music was fabulously coordinated. Anyway, thanks for commenting everyone and being such good friends to me -- especially since this was my first fandom!

question (edited hardcore because I kept thinking more and more about it)
As a disclaimer, I want to say that I do not in any way mean for this question to be impolite, degrading, glib, or rude. I'm honestly curious, and I honestly want to know your opinions and/or knowledge on this matter. Please feel free to be honest. I don't even know if this question would be considered racist or anything--you know my social skills are consistently questionable and I tend to say things that are not...oh, proper, I guess on a regular basis--but I'm not at all meaning for it to be that way.

this got too long to not be cut )

Fridays Are Love
So, I saw this on [info]nephthysmoon's journal and thought I'd give it a try. It's the [info]fannish5...

Here's this Friday's prompt: Name five fandoms that you're not (yet) in, but which seem intriguing.

1) Vampire Knight: I've read the manga and find it REALLY intriguing and the anime was cool; I'm just not sure if I'm ready to commit.

2) X-Men: I loved the cartoon when I was younger and enjoy the comic books. I just don't think I can tolerate fans of the movie-verse because it's so inexplicably horrible what they did to the characters.

3) Heroes: I like the show, but the shippers scare me.

4) Bleach: The storyline is going nowhere fast and I actually like the fanfic I've been reading more than the actual story lately...

5) Lovely Complex: I like the characters, the original concept and the humor, but there's a lack of conflict. I mean, they're just a happy couple. What's interesting about that?

blue-haired characters
So. AnimeIowa, right? In a month.

I'm going as Gabriel/Jibrille/Jibril from Angel Sanctuary but I want to go as someone else too. Problem? a) I don't want to work too hard or spend too much money, and b) I'm going to have long light blue hair.

So. Any ideas? I don't care from what fandom or what gender, but I want to see if anyone has an idea. :D

Love, Cons and Anime
If there are one or more people on your friends list who make your world a better place just because they exist, and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the Internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

You folks know who you are (okay, so what if it's practically everybody?)... :P

In other news, I'm gearing up for Comic-Con and trying to schedule out our day, visiting all the panels everyone'll enjoy (as opposed to the whole selfish "this is what I wanna see"-thing), figure out which panels we'll have to line up for early and still find time/places to eat. While I'd love to be able to eat lunch at one of my fav downtown restaurants, I fear it'll take me away from the Convention Center for too long. The other possibility is bringing our own food (I REFUSE to pay for food at Con because it's so damned expensive)...Oh well, guess I have a week to figure it out!

In other, other news, I've been watching Gankutsuou. I just happened upon it at the library a couple of weeks ago and decided to pick it up. It took me a little while to get used to the animation technique (a mix of Photoshop layers and 3-D), but I really like it. Of course, I read The Count of Monte Cristo awhile ago, so I'm familiar with the story. I do like the liberties this version takes with it, especially since, for the most part, it seems to be following the core of the story...Has anyone else seen this and what did you think? (Feel free to spoil me, since I already know how the real story ends.)

Ж-Men...but not the ones you might expect!
This week LJ Russia launched Ж-Men, a new comedy series about superheroes, inspired by the LJ communities dedicated to superheros, comics and cartoons. The title's "Ж" comes from ЖЖ, the nickname for LiveJournal in Russia.

Ж-Men's script is written by a group of LJ enthusiasts who also happen to be television professionals. Who knew? Following the premiere, five more episodes will be broadcast over the next two weeks. We hope you find the series fresh and enjoyable.

This is, of course, an experiment for LiveJournal. As always, we'd love to hear what you think!

requeeeest
Okay, guys, I'm not happy right now, what with the whole college thing. SO. I need fluff.

I need fluffy fluffy fluff. A specific type of fluff:

Toddler fluff. As in a character is turned into a toddler/is a toddler to begin with and is adorable and cute and just ohGod I want to take you home.

I don't care what fandom or original or what, just please, rec away.

I want cute innocent children!

...not like that.
